Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She holds the record for being awarded 10/10 marks at an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi is an Romanian gymnastics teacher who later became the coach for Comaneci, first discovered Comaneci at the age of six. Her first competition was in the National Junior Championships where she placed 13th in the year 1969. In 1970, Comaneci was crowned champion. Her first ever international event in 1972 she took the top spot with three gold medals. In her first international competition as a senior in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion winning four gold medals and one silver. In 1976, she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and became the first woman to ever dismount parallel bars using the double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens, she began performing in travelling shows such as Ice Capades as a skater together with her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in the entertainment business as a teenager. At the age of 13 she was a figure skater on the show Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. They featured dramatic skating on ice shows.
