Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers throughout her career. Ashford will next be seen as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in March 2023 when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the leading the show. Ashford's last part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. She starred in two seasons on the popular CBS comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. Also, it featured Ben Vereen and Hector Elizondo. The actress has also appeared on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original character of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Ashford is from the city of Denver resident who splits her time between Los Angeles.
